it does not ring the bell for me. I've been doing a lot of Rich Text stuff and never seen this. The only thing i could imagine is that you could do some incorrect locking, but i guess I've mentioned it in my book (though maybe not clear enough). In case offset is larger than 32k you should convert it to long to be able to add it correctly. Else I have no ideas yet...
