Agent Log: how to retrieve and delete this data (by Michael Woehrer, 01/24/2005 02:13:57 PM)

Dear Normunds,

First of all I'd like to thank you for your great and helpful book.

At the German Notes forum – http://www.atnotes.de – we were asking how to retrieve the agent log text and how to delete it. With 'agent log', I mean this text which appears if you switch to the designer client, select an agent in the agents view, do a right click on a selected agent and select "Log…" in the appearing context menu.

Well, as far as we know are there two possibilities to realize that:

a) via DXL exporting into a stream, retrieving the log data, removing the log data, and importing the agent back into the database.

b) via NotesAPI

(a) sounds more like a workaround. And could cause problems since maybe some data gets lost during the exporting/importing due to bugs in the Lotus DXL routines.

(b) seems to be the best solution for this matter.

Normunds, do you have any idea or hint how to retrieve and delete this aforementioned data via the NotesAPI? We also checked the items of an agent design note, but could not see this log as plain text.

We do not need a complete script solution, just any hint would be welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Michael Woehrer
